The Ratskeller is without a doubt one of the most traditional restaurants of the trade fair city. The restaurant is located in the new city hall – the largest city hall in the world – with all tourist attractions of he city centre of Leipzig within walking distance. The 110th anniversary of the restaurant was celebrated in 2014. The extraordinarily and rustic cellar ambience welcomes you for the opening event of the 4th European Symposium on Focused Ultrasound Therapy. The restaurant’s kitchen presents culinary delicacies made from recipes of the plain Saxon kitchen. During the evening you have the chance to visit the highest city hall tower of Germany with our local guides. Anyone who climbs the 444 steps is rewarded with a breathtaking view of the entire city of Leipzig at a height of 114 metres.

Gondwanaland ZOO Leipzig

Since July, 1, 2011, Leipzig has one more great attraction to offer: the Gondwanaland tropical experience world. Entering Gondwanaland will appeal to all of your senses as you come into close contact with the tropical rainforest of Africa, Asia and South America. Under a covered area (larger than two football pitches) there are 100 exotic animal species and approx. 500 different plant and animal species. Enjoy an exotic welcome cocktail before you dip into the tropical experience world of Gondwanaland. Zoo guides give explanations to the plants and animals during your individual tour through the tropical hall. Follow the jungle paths or treetop trail and drift along in a boat on the jungle river Gamanile that takes you on an exciting journey back in time through the Earth’s history and through the rainforest. Afterwards you enjoy an exotic buffet at the restaurants of the Gondwanaland.
